Block gambling and sketchy ad types, even if it costs revenue

Accepted lost ad revenue for better experience; no numbers

Unknownretention

What they did

Started with AdMob, then added Facebook, Flurry and later Unity to broaden demand. Blocked every category not brand- or young-audience-safe (gambling, sketchy games) and worked with networks on custom blocks (e.g. ads with three X buttons).

What happened

Accepted revenue loss in exchange for ad quality.
“We blocked all those categories, like if it's gambling, even if it's games that look kind of sketchy, pick your category.”

“"This type of ad has three X buttons to exit. We don't want this in our app. Please don't give us this thing."”
