How I Built It: $15K/month Mobile App
Sebastian Röhl, a German developer, quit his corporate programming job for a 12-month indie sabbatical, built the habit tracker HabitKit in Flutter in 2 months (summer 2022) while building in public, then went back to his job when the year ran out. Growing mainly through ASO (the 'habit tracker' keyword at the start of the app name, a review prompt right after the first habit is checked) plus a $100/month Apple Search Ads campaign, HabitKit reached $3K MRR at the end of 2023 and over $15K MRR at the end of 2024, with ~300K downloads; he quit his job again at the start of 2024.
