Pitch investors with revenue growth and a future vision, not user counts
First user-focused deck failed; the revenue-and-future deck raised post-YC
What they did
What happened
In their words
Koby Conrad - I speedran an ai app from 0 to $1m/yr in 10 months
KobyAnd then we ended it with like, we want a really big dream, is like, we're going to go drive 1 million downloads a month, we're going to do performance marketing, we're going to make like a PLG K factor, and we're going to go do media. We have this big influencer on board. Um if you can just believe that my name is Koby, and that I will take us to a million downloads a month, then this will be a really big thing. Um please give us money.
KobyAnd that was the pitch. That was not the pitch that raised us a lot of money, by the way. Like this like actually kind of failed. We went back and we like this was the pitch that like actually raised a bunch of money post-YC, is we figured out how to talk about the future rather than the past, and I I think that's super important if you're like trying to raise money and you're like have an app, is you can't you raise funds based off of a playbook that came out of 2025.
KobyYou need to figure out like where the future is going and being like, "I'm going to go build for this like absolutely massive markets. This is what the future looks like. Here's proof that we have like product market fit and like users actually freaking like this thing. Here's proof that it like actually freaking works and we're like actually helping people stay sober. Um here's me talking about like where we fit in the the universe of AI is like figuring out how to like position ourselves within like the AI universe. Here is revenue that goes up, not users that goes up, because we tried to raise off of users the first time."
KobyBut like, here here's like actually we we we hadn't actually hit it, so we like filled in the month when we were raising. Um but here's here's revenue that goes up and says that we we went to a million really fast.
