Discord servers ban self-promo, and 'I've got this tool, please use it' reads as spam. Instead built rapport: when a member described the kind of channel they wanted, he used his tool to find it for them, without directly selling. Those people told friends; when he asked new users where they came from, they said a friend told them.

“A person would give me like a type of channel they were looking for and I would use my tool to help them find that channel. So, I wasn't directly selling it to them, because at the end of the day, those people will tell their friends.”
“Word of mouth was so big for me at the beginning, just because it solved a pain point that is so big, people will end up telling other people. I asked them, "Where did you come from?" They'd be like, "Oh, my friend told me."”
