Copy rivals' best TikTok format, then tweak the hook on every new video

Top video (part ~30 of a series) hit 5M views; guessed ~$1,000 from it

What they did

Researched and initially copied competitors' best TikToks. For his 2026 playbook: study 10-20 of competitors' best-performing, best-converting videos, list what they share (hook, call to action) and write down how to reuse the format. Each day he checked the previous day's videos (views, engagement) and changed something in the next three. Winning format: phone footage of his laptop while he plays a game, a strong visual hook, then 'go to this exact link'. About 30 minutes per video; kept the same format as a numbered series (top video was ~part 30), trying different hooks.

What happened

Top video: 2.1M TikTok views, 3.2M on Instagram, 5M total; he guesses it earned ~$1,000.

“I think a really important thing is that I researched and initially copied the best of my competitors' videos from TikTok, and just worked two times harder than they did.”

“I'm just filming my laptop, me playing something. It's basically just a really nice visual hook. After the hook, I show them, "Hey, go to this exact link."”

“So, I found a working format, and I kept pumping it out. So, this might have been part 30 of this series, and I just kept trying different hooks.”

“research 10 to 20 of your competitors' best videos that performed the best, that got the best conversions. Find what's all similar about them. What was the hook like? What was the call to action like?”
