Write a short data spec, then give AI your screen designs to build the app
Built in under 2 weeks vs 6-8 months for his first app
Workedfeature-development
What they did
Before coding, write a text document explaining the app's data plus example JSON describing each attribute, and give it to the AI (Claude/Cursor) so it doesn't guess. Build the core functionality first, skipping onboarding. Drop design screenshots into Claude so it writes the full screen; iterate when it gets details wrong but don't be too picky: ship a version fast rather than a perfect app. Now uses only Claude (Claude Code) for coding.
What happened
Payout built in under 2 weeks, 100% with AI, versus 6-8 months for his first app without these tools.
- Stage
- Pre-launch (build)
“I recommend making a text document with an explanation, as well as some JSON data that explains what your data actually looks like and some information about each of the attributes that you're going to have for your data.”
“You can really just drop the screenshots into Claude or Cursor, whatever AI you're using.”
