Cal AI · B2C · AI calorie tracking app
Base rate of $350-$450 for four posts, plus a couple of unlockable view bonuses. Cap bonuses, usually at 1M views: profit comes from the one or two viral videos a month, so you need to keep their upside; people don't perceive much difference beyond a million; and very viral views reach a broad, less-targeted audience that converts worse.
Pingo · B2C · language learning app
In a niche Duolingo owns, Pingo saw reaction content blowing up on TikTok and adapted it: creators try to speak languages like Spanish or French on camera, mispronounce words, and Pingo's AI roasts them in real time, so the app demo itself is the funny, memorable part. The host calls this 'referential concepting': taking a whole creative idea from another niche so you are first with the format.
Fleet · B2B · laptop rental for companies
Customers rent devices on 24- or 36-month contracts paid monthly with no early exit (e.g. ~EUR 50/month for a laptop). Fleet resells each contract to a bank, which pays the full contract value upfront minus ~10%. Fleet buys the device with that cash and books its margin on day one; the bank carries the credit risk if the client goes bankrupt. At contract end Fleet buys the device back from the bank for a small amount. Because growth needs no working capital, the company was cash-flow positive and bootstrapped for 7 years.
GlamUP · B2C · face-scan makeup app
First version: scan your face, get text-based makeup tutorials. It did not work on social media. Changed the core feature so users scan their face and see a before/after of how they would look with specific makeup looks, a visual result that suits TikTok content. Had tested several candidate features before landing on it.
Avenue · B2B · booking widget for trades
Door-to-door demos on an iPhone made prospects think it was an app, not something embedded on their website. An early staff member suggested iPads so prospects could see it embedded on a website in their own branding. They switched to iPads and printed brochures explaining what the product was.
A subscription app · B2C · host's own app
Created an Apple Ads max-conversion campaign targeting all countries except the US, with a few top-of-funnel keywords and a $2 target cost per install. Checked impression share by country and which countries produced paying users (India: impressions, no purchases; Netherlands, Canada, UK: impressions and sales). Cross-checked with Mo's Astro-based Claude skill listing keyword volume by country: Netherlands had the same popularity (~55) as the US but difficulty ~17 vs 60-something. Then stop the worldwide campaign and create a Netherlands-only campaign with more budget.
