If you charge under $10 a month, test $20 on 10-20% of users

What they did

If charging under $10/month, A/B test higher prices even if unsure the app can command $20/month. Don't test on the whole audience: run it on 10, 15 or 20% of users. Keep raising until conversion breaks to find the ceiling. Rationale: $30M ARR takes 500K payers at $4.99/month but only 125K at $20/month, so less UA spend.

“if you're charging under 10 bucks a month, even if you're not sure your app can command a $20-a-month price, just try it. Start pushing up the price, do some AB tests, don't test it on your whole audience, section it, so you test it on 10, 15, 20% of the audience.”

“But just start pushing up that number and see where the numbers start to break. Try and find the ceiling.”
