Run a new coach's TikTok for them, using only videos already on their phone

What they did

For a newly launching coach with no TikTok experience, Ladder's creative director (Etsel) and the founder ran her account as her for the first couple of months, editing her existing raw phone footage with no new shoots. Rules learned: every video reaches a new audience via the For You page, so each must stand alone and either teach or entertain; raw iPhone-shot content edited inside TikTok beats polished Instagram content; coaches must unlearn Instagram habits (outfits, behind-the-scenes cadence); find each coach's niche and content type. Learnings were shared across the portfolio of coaches.

What happened

250,000 followers about 45 days later and million-plus-view videos weekly; became the playbook for TikTok and the basis for paid.

“It's raw and shot with an iPhone, and even editing in TikTok made the difference of it working or not versus using something that you had created in Instagram.”
