Put users in coach-led team chats and get them chatting early
Top retention on RevenueCat benchmarks; team chats are 'wildly popular'
Workedretentioncommunity
What they did
Product and engineering optimize one metric, workout completions. Modeled on the personal-trainer experience (programming, coaching, accountability). Users join a coach-led team whose members do the same workout on the same day (asynchronously) and talk in Slack-like team chats; coaches seed early activity and appear in personal-feeling moments in the app. Product growth work pushes new users into chat earlier, with known effects on workout completion and consistency. Also borrows gamification from Duolingo and mobile games.
What happened
Members report working out because of the chat; some members have traveled to Austin to meet; retention tops RevenueCat's benchmarks. Impact numbers are known internally but not shared.

In their words
Sub Club by RevenueCat · How Ladder Cracked TikTok and Grew 500% — Greg Stewart, Ladder“But the metric that we stare at every day as a team is workout completions.”
“"I wasn't going to work out today, and I came here, and I saw you guys talking about it, and it motivated me to go do it."”
“And we have figured out from a product growth perspective how to drive people into chat earlier, and we know what that equals from a workout completion perspective.”
