What they did
Hook: 'What if you could stop your doomscrolling addiction by doing 20 push-ups?' Make it clear enough for a 5-year-old, with a curiosity gap (what do push-ups have to do with doomscrolling?) and novelty. Show the value, not the build: used an AI push-up detection clip found on YouTube, a shot of placing the phone against the wall, then the scrolling part. End with a strong call to action asking whether they should build it. Make the video good, or you can't tell if the idea or the video failed. Pick ideas with one strongly visual element, explainable in three words, solving a fundamental human desire.
What happened
~80K views and ~500 comments asking them to build it; they built it as fast as possible and it reached $30K/month in 4 months
- Stage
- Pre-launch (Pre-build validation)
“So the hook here was, what if you could stop your doomscrolling addiction by doing 20 push-ups?”
“So for my example, I literally used an AI push-up detection video I found on YouTube. And then I showed how you place the phone against the wall. And finally, the scrolling part.”
“And at the end, you should add a strong call to action asking whether you should build this.”
“There were people literally begging us in the comments to build this app, and so we had to build this as soon as possible.”
