I Make $250K/Month From 13 Businesses (After Losing Everything to AI)

Jacky Chou runs a portfolio of small internet businesses making about $250K/month: the SEO agency Indexsy (~$85K/month), Local Rank (~$50K/month), Edvise, Trackings.ai and 7-8 small income streams. His content sites (e.g. a food blog paid by ads and affiliates) were wiped out in late 2023 by Google's Helpful Content Update and AI Overviews; the agency kept him afloat. His daily, low-view YouTube channel in a narrow SEO niche drove 80% of Local Rank's $20K MRR launch, versus 20% from a launch tweet with 15x the impressions. He shares a 7-step daily YouTube playbook.

1-2K views per video, yet the audience drove most of a $20K MRR launch

Pick a niche you can fully own (for him local SEO / AI SEO; e.g. 'SEO for plumbers', narrower is better) so people see you as the thought leader. Commit to daily uploads for at least six months: one long-form and one short-form video a day, accepting lower standards ('30 daily bad videos' teach more than two perfect ones). Unpolished stream-of-consciousness style rather than fast-paced editing. Build it into your routine; he has done it daily for two and a half years.

1.8K-view video brought 80% of a $20K MRR launch; 30K-view tweet brought 20%

Launched Local Rank with a YouTube video to his existing niche audience alongside a launch tweet on X.

Founder says these videos do 'extremely well'; no numbers

Make videos about problems you have yourself, since the audience likely has them too, e.g. 'How do I rank on ChatGPT?', simply exploring the question and talking through your thought process (it doesn't even have to answer it). Once you solve it, the call to action is a simple link to your product (Local Rank).

Casual intros made viewers leave right away; no numbers after the change

He used to open with a casual moment (a scoop of creatine) and viewers left immediately. Now every video opens with a hook stating the result, e.g. 'Here's how I ranked in ChatGPT in 24 hours.'

Claims first movers rank even on new channels; no numbers

Optimize for trends and search: when a new AI model or tool launches (e.g. Seedance 2.0), be among the first to cover it so the video ranks, especially when just starting out.

Every video links to his newsletter; the lead magnet is the show notes plus helpful documents to follow along. Viewers give their email and enter the funnel, where he can pitch any time. No sales ask in the video itself; he gives as much value as possible and hopes they buy his services later.

Indexsy · B2B · SEO agency

Agency carried him when Google killed his content sites; now ~$250K/month

Runs an SEO agency, a couple of B2B SaaS products and several smaller income streams (11-12 in total) instead of focusing on one project. When Google updates and AI Overviews killed the content sites, the agency income kept him going. All projects serve a related SEO audience.

Did very well, then wiped out in late 2023 by Google updates and AI Overviews

Built a portfolio of content sites (e.g. a foodie blog). Visitors came from Google; revenue came from display ads and affiliate commissions.

$20K MRR at launch; about $50K/month a year later

After the content sites collapsed, took everything learned from years of local SEO agency work and built Local Rank, selling to the same SEO audience he reaches on YouTube.
