Phoenix Do - Copy This Strategy, It'll Blow Up Your App
Joseph ChoiIf you're the app founder, you're the brand, and you want to sponsor creators to achieve similar distribution, but then you own the app, they don't own the app, where in that curve do you go? Are you going to that kind of middle ground, medium-sized influencer who will take the brand deals or are you actually going really big and just partnering with those people or do you go small to micro-influencers?
Phoenix DoYou have to start smaller because you have like an unproven product, and once you do target like people with like a million followers, they do have like a brand that they have to maintain. So if product isn't there yet and usually isn't in your first like two, three months, you have to figure out really like what your core product mechanics are. What's like the hooked model? What gets people in? What's the action they take? You know, what are they rewarded with? And ideally, if you can build like a product that last, you have some sort of investment. I would start out going to people in that like 50k like 250k range in terms of TikTok following. I mean, that's what we did. We were paying a bunch of those like smaller size creators because they're not getting brand deals. They're still actually working like a part-time job or like a full-time job for the most part. There's this opportunity for you as a app founder to sell your brand and to have like a mutually-beneficial partnership. Ideally, you should be aiming for like a $1 like CPM. You can up that as you go along, and I think that's really where the art of advertising comes in. And when you're starting out, going with those smaller creators will just get you people in the funnel to understand those metrics so you can optimize and scale.
Joseph ChoiSo you, you scaled to 40 creators. I want to talk about that in a bit, but you said in order to scale to that amount and really be able to start investing, you got to fix your funnel first. Like make sure your LTV is high enough to support that growth. How did you actually get a good, like high converting retentive products in order to support that growth?
