What they did
Created a 'host' role for sports media personalities and athletes on X. Watched for people with large followings who were liking posts about the game, DM'd them and asked if they wanted to host. Hosting means writing the five daily questions. When their game goes live he posts 'we have this person as host today', and the host almost always retweets it. No payment mentioned.
What happened
Hosts almost always retweet, so the game reaches a new audience; founder calls it a cheat code and a networking tool.

“So, I created this new role called a hosting role specifically designed for sports media personalities and athletes on the platform. And basically, what I did is I realized some of these people were playing, so I DM'd people with large followings who've been liking the post about the game and asked if they wanted to host.”
“All it means is they would write the five daily questions, which oftentimes they're very excited to do. You know, when the game with their questions goes live, I make a post saying, "Hey, you know, we have this person as host today," and almost always they retweet it and the game reaches a new audience.”
