What they did
As a player in tournaments at his local course, noticed they used nothing for scoring. Asked the course pro why they didn't use Golf Genius (a product he'd used); the pro said it was too complicated and too expensive. Built a simple scoring tool for that course's first event, then kept improving it. Advises picking something you care about, finding where you can make it better, and building.
What happened
Grew to about 150 golf courses and ~$350K ARR (~$800K run rate on start-of-year pace), enough to quit Meta.
