Ask conferences what they'd give you for double their top sponsor package
Founder says it beats small test buys: better treatment and brand effect; no numbers

What they did
At Rupa (~$500K/year on conferences), instead of buying a small $5K booth to test, asked for the biggest package (e.g. a $100K 'gold executive' tier) and then offered more ($200K) in exchange for custom perks: private dinners, speaker slots, direct access to the email list, logo on lanyards. Same principle applied to influencers: never be the smallest sponsor; be the one whose loss would hurt their P&L, so they look after you and audiences see you as the headliner.
What happened
Guest says being the top sponsor consistently played out much better (brand effect plus better treatment); no numbers.
