How I Used Twitter to Hit $10K/Month

Laid-off engineer Rob Hallam shipped five products that made $0 in 2.5 years while posting on X. A viral post about those failures got him his first $3K dev-agency client, and all agency clients came inbound via X. He then co-founded SuperX (X growth tool, $29/month) with Tibo. It launched July 2025; a selfie post beat the product launch post and added $1K MRR in 24h. SuperX reached ~$13K MRR (450 subscribers, +25% MoM), with 95% of traffic from Rob's X account (~100K impressions/day, 34K followers). He gives a 7-step build-in-public playbook.

150K views; first $3,000 client, and every agency client came inbound via DMs

After five products that made $0 and a year without income, posted on X about all his failures. The post got ~150K views and a commenter suggested he start a dev agency; he immediately announced the agency riding the post's momentum. Kept posting to bring in more clients; all clients arrived inbound through X DMs from viral posts.

A post about filming in public passed 1M views

Made a January 2025 New Year's resolution to vlog. Posted about what filming in public was like while at Amsterdam airport; by the time he landed in Rio it had over a million views. Coincided with closing the agency and starting to build SuperX.

Selfie post: +$1K MRR in 24 hours; launch demo post got only 26 sign-ups

Launched SuperX in July 2025 with a standard X launch post: screen recording plus feature breakdown (32K views, 26 sign-ups). Then took a selfie at his laptop and posted a personal update that did not advertise the product (~46K views), which drove far more sign-ups than the launch post. Took it as the signal to keep posting personally.

Founder says the demos worked; no numbers

Used SuperX to analyze what was going viral in his niche, found cursed tweets and algorithm simulators trending, built both as SuperX features, and posted 'dancing'/headbanging screen-recorded demos of them on X, combining a proven viral concept with his personality. Demo videos made with Screen Studio.

Impressions went from erratic to ~100K a day; X brings 95% of traffic

Don't guess what to post. Go to successful profiles in your niche, sort their posts by performance (he uses the SuperX Chrome extension), identify the concept that worked (not the wording), and rewrite it in your own style and personality. Before this he posted randomly and got inconsistent impressions.

Founder says it changed everything; no numbers

Four content types (entertaining, educational, inspirational, convincing/selling) posted in a loop. 1) Entertaining: funny, relatable, vulnerable, or a fun tool launch to win attention and warm up the algorithm. 2) Follow with educational or selling from goodwill, e.g. 'Here's how you grow on X, with SuperX'. 3) Inspirational: screenshot the resulting views/sales/followers and say what it means to you ('This is why I left my job'). Then repeat.

Founder credits it for 34K followers in a year; no direct numbers

Profile first: a friendly, smiling photo of your real face that you don't change; a one-sentence bio of what you're doing; a pinned post with your goal or pitch (his: 'Left my job, left my home to live on savings and try and build my dream SaaS to 10k a month'). Then pick one goal and document the work toward it every day, sharing ups and downs for consistency, a storyline and trust.

Video, feature releases and personal moments won; removed a viral but unused feature

Track every post's performance and look for patterns in format, style and topic. For him video won, and feature releases and authentic moments were the best topics, so he made more of those. Also kill what doesn't work even if it went viral: the algorithm simulator went viral but was removed from SuperX because most people didn't use it.

Founder says followers became real friends; no numbers

Instead of AI-spamming generic replies under hundreds of posts, pick people in your niche you genuinely want to know and reply with real value: your experience, stories, thoughtful questions. Stay consistent with the same people daily. He met followers in person while traveling, and built this into SuperX Engage, which walks users through replying to people in their community and tracks their replies.

10x the reach of his text posts

X is currently pushing video because it keeps people on the platform longer, so videos get more reach. Switched his posting from text to video. Watch what the platform favors and adapt as it changes.
