Ryan Thorpe - Meet The Guy Dominating The App Store
Joseph ChoiDo you feel like there's a certain range within January? Like, towards end of the year or beginning of the of the year where there's like a window where you can really do marketing for like New Year's type of uh products?
Ryan ThorpeYeah. Yeah. Well, I actually um another another few guys I know who are scaling up their wellness, you know, fitness apps at the moment. Um, I walked them through kind of uh our sort of ad account. Um, and you can see almost day by day. So, you know, 25th of December, dead. 26th to 28th of December, you could you start testing, you know. You probably start let's say you're spending 5, 10 grand a day around that sort of time just getting the early ideas of how your ads are going to perform.
Ryan ThorpeYou've got to remember there's a there's a multiplier of they're going to perform twice as good on the 1st or 2nd, but you're trying to find the best 10 from your your collection in this time period. And then 28th of December to 30th, it jumps again, the conversion rate, quality. So, you might boost your your daily ad spend again across all your all your videos.
Joseph ChoiMhm.
Ryan ThorpeUm, the best is where like January 1st falls on like a Sunday, because it's like we have yearly cycles, uh there's also individual sea- weekly cycles of health and fitness productivity apps. So, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday are like peak periods to run ads, and you know, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday no one really cares about trying to improve themselves as much. They're just looking forward to the weekends.
Joseph ChoiYeah. Unfortunately, 2026 has a has a Thursday [laughs] as our New Year's.
Joseph ChoiYeah.
Ryan Thorpethat will probably be your peak push period, um because people are everyone's going back to work on that Monday, let's say for example, and they'll want to feel like now is the time I'm going to start. So, yeah, that's that Saturday night into Sunday morning is where you just, you know, 10x the spend if your metrics are showing good good signals early.
Joseph ChoiYeah, that's that's really interesting. I feel like Facebook would never do that for you, cuz they want you to spend and bid throughout the week, too. [laughter] And then, you know, probably gets I feel like a lot of media buyers probably don't optimize for Sundays like this in the health and like self-improvement space.
