Rewrite onboarding to promise a result (becoming a better runner), not just ranks

Changed because first onboarding converted poorly; no after numbers given

What they did

V1 onboarding was modeled on Liftoff plus top onboardings (Cal AI, Quitter, Life Reset, Clean Eatz). Conversion was low because it only said 'cool app with ranks', so right after launch they rebuilt it to say how ranks help the user achieve a goal (improve as a runner), aligned with the competitive-runner marketing.

Joseph ChoiYeah. And then design-wise like aesthetics, you kind of it was mostly like Liftoff inspired?

33:48

Caleb DeanYeah, Liftoff, mainly. So the what you're looking at now is the old onboarding and then on the right there's like an updated one. Yeah, that that's like the split. So on the right of that line's the new one and on the left of that is the old one. So that was a big thing that we changed immediately was our onboarding did well, but the conversion rate wasn't that high, um and that's because we weren't really focusing on like the outcome of why someone's downloading this app.

Caleb DeanLike in the beginning it was just like, "This is a cool app that has ranks," but we wanted to change our positioning to be, "Yes, we're a cool app that has ranks, but these ranks will help you achieve this because of this," and really drive that out of the user.

Joseph ChoiRight. So instead of just like, "Hey, you're going to have fun like ranking up with your friends," it's like, "Hey, you're actually going to become a better runner," because you're appealing to the like competitive runner um in your marketing. So in the onboarding, you're trying to like align with that same user.
