What they did
The founders are college sprinters who posted track and field videos and built up hundreds of thousands of followers, with no paid marketing. Before the app existed they ran a 3AK Shopify store. They slipped '3AK' into their videos ('3AK method') and linked the website in their bios, so the name was already familiar. They then launched the app to that audience on Dec 16.
What happened
'When we just dropped the app, it just blew up': $10K in the first month, ~$70K in about 6 months, ~40K users.

- launch
“We had built up hundreds of thousands of followers in track and field alone with our videos, no marketing. We were subliminally putting 3AK in our videos before we even dropped the app.”
“Cuz we had the Shopify store, the e-commerce, so we'd be like 3AK method and on the website, this and that, we'd have it in our bio. Then when we just dropped the app, it it just blew up.”
