What they did

Jonathan, a founder building a dating app who had replied to Eunice's tweets for a while, asked her to appear in Cupidly's launch video while she was going viral for her Hinge posts. He pitched it as good for both of them. He also asked permission to reference her recently deceased puppy as bait, and left a deliberately outrageous comment about it on her post, which drove outrage and engagement. The tweet tagged her in the middle. Eunice's condition: it works only when the two parties naturally fit.

What happened

The launch video got ~1.5M views (host's figure), from a founder who had ~2-3K followers before; both Eunice and Cupidly got attention.

“So the reason why his video went viral is cuz, one, he used the very trending topics/person in the video, right?”
Eunice Lai
“And then two, the comment that he left on my post was very outrageous. Like, you don't talk about someone's dead pet.”

“If it makes sense for these two parties to collab, then I think it will do very well, as opposed to you just see someone with a lot of clout and you have nothing to do with them”
