What they did
When a candidate clicks apply, an interstitial modal requires name, email and URL before redirecting to the company's own hiring page. Eric keeps the applicant list per company and compares applicants-per-hire against his normal averages; if a company has had hundreds of applicants and no reported hire, he investigates the list (e.g. checks LinkedIn) for unreported hires.
In their words
Pete Codes · $60k/m from a job board“when you actually go to apply, there is this interstitial uh model that pops up, and you do have to put in some information in order to actually continue on to the application”
“maybe do a little bit of sleuthing on uh various, you know, like LinkedIn, places like that”
