What they did
Rather than keep reviving Liftbear, started HabitKit as an experiment with a strict two-month build deadline, with six months of runway left. HabitKit's concept: a grid of colored tiles per habit. He had tried a web version years earlier and dropped it because habit tracking felt native to mobile.
What happened
HabitKit made more in its first month than Liftbear in six months, then roughly $1.5K/month for its first six months; later became the main business.

Sub Club by RevenueCat · From Corporate Web Developer to Full-Time Indie Hacker — Sebastian Röhl, HabitKit“After all this Liftbear depression, I actually decided to focus on a new project then. I wanted to do it as an experiment. I set myself a very small deadline of two months of building it.”
“So in the first month after releasing HabitKit, I made more money than in the last six months combined, so that was a huge win.”
