An Nayal - Full App Growth Guide 2026 - How to Make Viral Content to Get Users & Make Your App Retentive
An NayalOne of the things we used at that point was the missing out effect, where if you did not answer your the question, you could not see your partner's answer as well. So it kind of created this situation where you really wanted to discover what their answer was, and if they answered, you would want to answer, but if you answer, they want to answer as well. So it would create this loop which would carry over to increasing the retention.
An NayalApart from that, we figured out notification was one of the best tools. One thing we discovered too late, which helps also, is widgets. I think one of the big advantages you have in a mobile app as compared to a web app is you can place a widget on the home screen, and that widget is a easy way to call the user back every single time. One of the apps which did this really well was Couple Joy.
An NayalI think Couple Joy was one of the first ones which put a widget on the lock screen, and that is what their social media strategy was based around as well. So we found that what they uncovered worked really well, and we incorporated it after they did, and most of the other players did as well. But these were the three things I would say were the top ones. Yes, exactly.
An NayalSo, here, as you can see, on the app itself, they've got a distance widget, which shows the distance between the partners. Now, this is really, really, really valuable when you're in a long-distance relationship, because you want to understand how far are you from your partner, how close can you get. Also, the amount of days you are together, it makes you feel more attached to your partner, even though you're not there with them. Really strong incentives to pull the person back on the product and to remind them that the product exists, right?
An NayalBecause, as you know, Joseph, our mobile screens are full of products right now, and it's really hard to stand out as a product. Notifications help, but almost every other app sends you notification nowadays. So how do you stand out from that? By using widgets like this, by using strategies like this.
