Grow from accent training into overall spoken-English fluency after raising a Series A

Unknownpositioning-nichefeature-development

What they did

Launched as an 'accent training app' because accent was the spikiest, most differentiated pain at the last mile of fluency. After reaching brand/revenue scale and raising a Series A, expanding to the same learner's broader spoken fluency: idiomatic phrasing, sentence structure, grammar slips, clarity of ideas, confidence. Also meant to escape the stigma of the word 'accent', which suppresses word of mouth.

“the biggest pain point that we're hearing from a lot of people at this last mile of fluency is their accent, and it seems like such a differentiated and spiky pain point that we can create a product and scale a product initially that focuses on that wedge”
Anada Lakra
“But second, it is also to escape a little bit this almost antiviral word of accent.”
