Pay creators a flat rate set to break even on their average views
Viral hits become pure profit; founder says that's where the real money is
Workedcreator-opsinfluencer
What they did
Set the rate so the creator's average views roughly break even or make a little profit (the most likely outcome). Real money comes from the occasional mega-viral video, and with a flat fee all of that upside is profit. Avoid per-view pricing where possible. Bonuses and scaled deals were also used on top.
What happened
Jake says profit comes from capturing viral hits; no numbers.
In their words
Sub Club by RevenueCat · How Cal AI turned creators into a growth machine — Jake Castillo, Cal AI“You base your breakeven point or profitable rate on their average views and it's like, okay, this is the most likely scenario. We'll break even, maybe get a little profit. And where you make your real money is when they have one video go mega viral and all that is profit.”
“So whenever possible, I would try to do flat rate deals because it allows you to capture the asymmetry that is algorithmic content.”
