Comment useful advice, then say openly you co-founded the app

Worked better than expected; one comment got 800 likes and likely thousands of profile visits

What they did

Give a genuinely useful, on-topic answer first, then disclose the connection. Example under a pancake calorie video: 'Calories can vary so much based on what you use. Instead of counting them, focus on how these pancakes can fuel your day with nutrients. If you're curious about smart eating habits, check out the health app co-founded by my friends and me. It has tips just like this.' The app is not named, so people visit the profile. Pair with a profile bio that says 'I co-founded' the app.

What happened

The co-founder angle worked surprisingly well; being upfront raised rather than hurt engagement. An example comment had ~800 likes, which the guest says usually means thousands of profile visits (not trackable).

“The interesting thing is that this kind of co-founder angle that, you know, me and my friends created this app, it worked like surprisingly well.”

“So, yeah, you might think that, you know, being upfront about, you know, this being your own app, your own company, and so on would, you know, harm your engagement. But it does the opposite often.”

“It's not trackable to be clear, but based on this one, it's like it it can usually be like thousands of profile visits, surprisingly.”
