What they did
Started from his own problem (quitting vaping). Checked Sensor Tower for quit-drinking and quit-smoking apps (they were 'crushing it'), Google Trends (vaping on the rise), and, most importantly, TikTok, where vape videos were going very viral. Then committed to the idea through months of no revenue.
What happened
Validated the niche; Puff Count now at ~$40K MRR

“I did market research. I looked at Sensor Tower, looked at other, you know, quit drinking or quit smoking cigarettes apps, and I saw that they were crushing it. Looked at Google Trends, saw that vaping was on the rise. And then, probably the most important part, was I looked on TikTok. I saw that vape videos were going super viral on TikTok.”
