Build features that look impressive on camera, like notes appearing on their own
Powered the early viral videos; founder-side claim, no split numbers

What they did
When shipping features early on, made them very visual for short video. Example: the live lecture feature streams auto-generated notes onto the screen after 'stop recording'. When filming, keep the screen and keyboard in shot with hands away from the keyboard to show nothing is typed. Creators are briefed to hit the feature's wow moment alongside the outcome (better grades).
What happened
The live-lecture wow moment drove the 75M-view video.
This shipped together with other changes, so the result can't be credited to this alone.
In their words
The Superwall Podcast · Kiran Desai - The EXACT System to Go From 0-$10M+ With Your App“Back when the platform was first released, uh we really and we were releasing features, we really tried to make sure they were optimized for uh virality online. And what I mean by that is like they're very visual.”
“I would make sure to like make get the computer screen in the shot, and then under the computer screen is obviously the keyboard, and my hands wouldn't be near the keyboard.”
