Give one person all paywall tests; test big changes first, then small ones

Many experiments run by one person; founder credits it for monetization gains

What they did

One dedicated monetization hire (Michal, data-minded, documents everything) owns paywall, pricing and onboarding experiments using Superwall and RevenueCat, borrowing a developer only when needed. One focus per quarter, in order: (1) paywall position, (2) totally different paywall concepts (video, minimal text, scrolling, trial reminder/timeline), (3) localized paywalls per country, (4) smaller changes within the winning paywall, (5) price tests.

What happened

Lets a small team iterate a lot on monetization; price and paywall work drove ARPU gains.

“So what we've done is basically do one quarter after another, focusing on those kind of prioritization part. First is position of the paywall. Two is really the totally different paywalls, just try different paywalls, one with a video.”

“When one paywall is working, you can do smaller change within that. And then you do price testing and really changing the price and see what works.”
Francescu Santoni
“if you get the right tooling and the right person that is obsessed about that, then you can iterate a lot.”
