What they did

The founder's TikTok account started for his unblocked-games site Evanclever, then was switched to ProblemPal (homework helper), then to Locked. For ProblemPal he posted a direct pitch video: 'How to finish your homework very quickly' in 10 seconds using ProblemPal. Earlier he had grown the Totally Science account from ~30K to ~100K followers with simple videos.

What happened

The ~200K-view video is credited with most of ProblemPal's growth to $2,000/month.

Joseph ChoiI want to go back to like the the origin story cuz you said like you created content for the website that Zach was doing with the like the video games unblocked on on school computers. Is this like your your Locked account on TikTok is originally the account for the games, right?

Evan YadegariThis account started for my unblocked gaming website, Evanclever. This was the OG account for that after creating tons of content for Totally Science. Then it shifted to an account for my app, ProblemPal, the homework helper. And then, finally, it was an account for Locked, which it currently is. So it evolved from a gaming website to now a a productivity app.

Joseph ChoiOh, look at this. This is 200K views. What was this video?

Joseph ChoiIn 10 seconds, use AI, ProblemPal. Oh, wow. [laughter] Wait, this video did super well. This is for ProblemPal?

Evan YadegariYeah, yeah, it was. That uh Dude, that video drove a ton of traction. Like, I think the reason that we were able to scale to $2,000 a month is because of this video.

Joseph Choi$2,000 a month and uh it's, yeah, a lot of it seems like it came from this one. Like, 200,000 views. And you're literally like pitching the app in the in the whole video. It's like, "Here's the thing that you should use." And then people would go and like download it.
