What they did

Compute RPM (revenue per 1,000 views) from past videos: ~$3-4 for Locked (~10% download-to-sub, $30/yr or $7/wk). Offer CPM deals of $1-2 per 1,000 views, always with a payout cap (e.g. $500) set upfront, so paid CPM stays under RPM.

What happened

Typical CPMs $1-2 against $3-4 RPM, keeping creator spend profitable.

Joseph ChoiDoes that factor into your like, RPM, CPM calculations? Is that how you kind of like assess if a influencer video is worth it?

9:38

Evan YadegariYeah, exactly. On average, our RPM is around $3 to $4. So I like to keep the CPM under that. Typically, uh our CPMs range from around $1 to $2.

Joseph ChoiSo let's go all the way back to what we're talking about with the influencers. When you're outreaching to these influencers, um what kinds of influencers are you looking for within those three categories? Is it like larger people with bigger follower accounts? Is it about the engagement rates? Um, what are you looking for?

13:31

Joseph ChoiAnd then that allows you to kind of like build the relationship with the creator and then negotiate your deal structures. Like what are What are your deal structures typically?

13:40

Evan YadegariYeah, so there are four deal structures I pitch. The first is a standard deal, where I offer something like $500 for one video or $1,200 for four videos. I only use this deal structure when working with creators who consistently pull crazy views. The second is a CPM deal, where I pay something like $1 to $2 per 1,000 views. And I always add a cap. That way, if they get an insane amount of views, it they get capped out at $500 or whatever we set from the start. Then what- with CPM deals, you also want to always make sure that your CPM is under your RPM, your revenue per 1,000 views. Next, the third deal is a minimum-view-clause deal, my personal favorite, where we pay the influencer something like $1,000 per post with a 500,000 minimum view clause. So if their first video doesn't hit 500,000 views, they have to keep posting until the videos collectively add up to that 500,000-view benchmark. Then the fourth deal is a bonus deal, where we pay something like $250. And if the video gets 250,000 views, we'll pay an additional $250. And …

Joseph ChoiSo let me show you this. A lot of app founders I talk to have a feeling their app has viral potential, but don't want to be the person brain-rot scrolling an hour a day hunting for formats, or, worse, burning thousands on creators shooting videos that just flop. Recently, I've been telling every founder I meet about Spytok. It's basically an AI TikTok viral marketer that I've seen a lot of top app growth teams using. You just paste a link to your …
