Make onboarding a conversation: use their name, echo goals, show proof and quick wins
Part of the 2-month push that took revenue from $10K to $30K a month
Workedonboarding
What they did
After tearing down Cal AI, Quitter and Ahead onboardings: intro screen shows the dream outcome (30 days clear-headed), not features. Ask their name, then use it in the next question. Ask short- and long-term goals, then reflect them back with social proof ('81% of users saw improved mental clarity'). Ask pain questions (days a week, money spent), then compare them to others with cited sources. Then show where they'll be in 30 days (money saved), that the program does the work, that 25,000+ people did it, and that users improve within the first 3 days. Frames every slide on the value equation: dream outcome x likelihood / (time delay x effort).

In their words
The Superwall Podcast · Asher Herbstman & Thatcher Clough - I Built a $30k/mo App That Helps You Quit Smoking“we tore down Cal AI's onboarding, which is great, Quitter, Ahead, actually looking at all of these, understanding how a perfect onboarding is created and then applying it to your own business”
“So we ask them for the name and then immediately in the next question, we're using their name and sort of try to make it feel more like a conversation”
“This is how we try to communicate value, which is showing them the dream outcome times the percentage likelihood of achieving that dream outcome divided by, these are things that show less value, time delay and effort and sacrifice.”
