Set up your product for people you know and send it to them
Got early feedback; some artist friends still use it on a free plan
Workedvalidationoutbound-sales
What they did
Messaged artist friends and other people (warm and cold) saying 'I built this for you, do you want to use it?', setting up their pages for them. Early users were grandfathered into a free plan. Not scalable, but it drove early interest and feedback that he addressed before launching on Product Hunt. In his final advice he prescribes the hard work of reaching out to customers and doing outreach.
What happened
Early feedback he called really helpful; some friends still use it years later
- Stage
- Pre-launch (Pre-launch validation)
“Just to sort of test it out, I was like reaching out to people being like, "Hey, I built this thing," and I would like send it to them, be like, "I built this for you. Like, do you want to use it?"”
“And I have artist friends who are still using Liinks because they set it up, and I grandfathered them into like a free plan, I'm not making them pay. But, that was how I started getting some early feedback, which was really helpful.”
“Starting from zero, right, like I built this thing, just warm or cold outreach trying to convince people to try it. Not scalable, but like a good way to just engage interest.”
