Show no pop-up ads to new players for 7 days, then one every 5-10 minutes
Nana: nobody got good numbers with ads in the first minutes
Workedad-monetizationretention
What they did
No app-open ads and few interstitials in the first 3-5 minutes; ideally remove app-open and other ads for new users for their first 7 days. After that, cap frequency by session time: first interstitial at ~5 minutes, then every ~10 minutes, rather than every 10 seconds. Check session duration first. Where there is in-game currency or lives, use rewarded ads instead.
What happened
Across apps Nana has seen, ads in the first minutes drive users away; no one got good numbers doing it.
“so yeah, we don't use too many interstitials uh in uh especially in the first like 3 to 5 minutes, which some games totally do.”
“nobody got good numbers when they did that.”
“Yeah, so please remove app open ads and other ads uh, at least for new u- users for 7 days.”
“But if there is more, you can put an interstitial in like uh 5 minutes, then in 10 minutes, then in another 10 minutes, and this way, it will be better.”
