Ask users how disappointed they'd be without the app, then build for the fans
Got past the 40% product-market fit line quickly (founder's blog post)

What they did
Ask customers how they would feel if they could no longer use the product (very / somewhat / not disappointed); 40% 'very disappointed' marks strong product-market fit. Re-segment the answers to find the personas most likely to say 'very disappointed', interview them about what would delight them more, and build a roadmap that fills those gaps. Segment by persona, not by feature.
What happened
Per Rahul Vohra's blog post, Superhuman started below the line and quickly got past 40%.
In their words
Sub Club by RevenueCat · The Subscription Value Loop: A Formula for Growth – Phil Carter, Elemental Growth“they basically looked at which segments of their users had the highest propensity to say they would be very disappointed, and they re-segmented the data, and that got them a little bit closer.”
“very quickly, that allowed them to get past that 40% threshold and learn a lot along the way”
