Launch as a Chrome extension and ask five friends to leave reviews
Free store traffic brought the first ~100 users

What they did
Built a truly minimal MVP as a Chrome extension in 2 weeks (the easiest thing to build), uploaded it to the Chrome Web Store and asked about five friends to leave reviews on day one. The store sent free traffic with almost no work: 10-20 page views right away. People kept downloading without any marketing, which convinced him to pursue it as a side project.
What happened
Chrome Web Store traffic got Voicy its first ~100 users.

“Yeah, so from day zero, just to get it off the ground, the Chrome Web Store, where I posted the Chrome extension, gives you like free traffic for basically zero work.”
“I think from like day one, when we uploaded it, and I asked like five friends to leave reviews, we instantly got like 10 or 20 page views just from that in the beginning.”
“So that got me to like my first, let's say, 100 users.”
