Send Taboola and Outbrain ads straight to the App Store
Store install rate stayed very low; web funnels worked better

What they did
8fit, Blinkist and Babbel, big Berlin clients of Outbrain and Taboola, tried the networks' new app product that sent clicks straight to the store. They made creatives more and more obviously about an app (screenshots, 'download the app' text) to prepare users, but store-to-install conversion stayed very low. Readers of native ads don't expect to land on a store.
What happened
Didn't work for any of the three; no creative change fixed store conversion.

- Scale (scaling)

- Three large advertisers tested it; creative iterations
In their words
Sub Club by RevenueCat · Understanding When to Use Web2App and How to Do It Well — Thomas Petit, Independent App Consultant“And for all of us three, it was like this product just didn't work.”
“because our conversion rate in the store to install was really low on this, and there was no there was no amount of forcing the creative to prepare the user that was going to the store that was going to work.”
