Copy your working in-app onboarding to the web before inventing a new quiz

Agency rarely sees a profitable in-app flow fail when mirrored on web

What they did

Before building web funnels, ask why (fees alone are not enough; the web must be profitable on its own) and what the current in-app funnel looks like. If the app has a long onboarding, rebuild it on web first, then tweak: remove some questions, add problem statements matched to the traffic. If it is a utility app with a hard paywall, don't build a long quiz; use a landing page with checkout (product, screenshots, paywall). Budget time, dev resources and money; don't dilute app spend if it is only just reaching learning phases and privacy thresholds, bring new spend to web instead. Low-intent traffic and higher-ticket products fit web best; a $29.99/year product can stay in-app.

What happened

“For example, if you have a really long onboarding in app, build it on web. That's where you should start. If you're a utility app and you have a hard paywall, don't build a long quiz on web.”

“Very rarely have we ever worked with an app where they have a solid, profitable in-app onboarding funnel, they mirror that on web, and it just doesn't work.”
