What they did
Named her riskiest assumption: that people will still pay for expert travel advice when they can plan trips with ChatGPT or Claude. Before building an app, put up a landing page selling PDF travel guides at $19 each (about 10x what people expect to pay for a PDF), promoted via a YouTube channel / a friend promoting them. She calls this a 'minimum buyable solution' rather than an MVP: only payment proves value. Now prototyping the app in Claude. She also suggests asking prospects at what price it seems too cheap to be good and at what price it is too expensive.
What happened
Sold about $3,000 of guides in 1 month; she is now building an app prototype.

“my riskiest assumption right now is that in a world where people can use AI, they can talk to ChatGPT, or Claude to plan their trip, that people will still pay for expert travel advice.”
“But before I built this, I just built put up a landing page and had a bunch of PDF guides, uh had like a channel on YouTube or um, you know, a a friend was like promoting this stuff, and I was like, "Let's just see if people will buy this." And I charged $19 a guide, $19, which is a lot.”
“And in 1 month, like I sold $3,000 worth of these things.”
