Practitioner pattern · Steve P. Young (Sells app growth services and a paid founder community (App Founders))
Show a cheap starter pack when players open the game a second time
Host says it works well on second opens; no numbers
Workedupsell-expansionpricing
What they did
On the second open, lead with a special offer or starter bundle, showing the regular price next to the offer price. Rationale: people who pay a little once are easier to upsell later than getting a new customer to pay a lot at once. Guest adds: tailor it by how far the player got in the first session (skip it for engaged players, use it for players who hit a wall).
What happened
Steve has seen special offers and starter bundles work well on second opens.
