Pick creators by real comments and 5K+ views per video, not followers
Early follower-based picks with weak comments were the biggest mistake
Workedinfluencercreator-ops
What they did
Ignore follower count. Require creators pulling at least ~5,000 views per video (up to millions). Read the comment sections: people should comment about the video, ask questions, reply to each other and like comments; lots of emoji-only comments is a red flag.
What happened
Early on, choosing by followers/views led to working with creators whose comments were poor, which the guest calls his biggest mistake; switched to engagement-based vetting.
“Yeah, to be honest, from my experience, followers don't matter at all. It's mainly just engagement rates and also the amount of views the creators pull.”
“I'd say the biggest one was just not uh not caring about engagement. Early on, I would just care about followers and views, but in reality, that's a huge mistake.”
“And if there are a ton of emojis, then they're most likely not a great influencer.”
