What they did
Jack launched Lovely with a simple tweet: what the app does (love notes on your partner's home screen widget), shown in context, plus the goal of taking it from $0 to $5K/month in 10 weeks. He quote-tweeted it about six times with updates and context; each one got more views because it was a story (can he hit the goal?) and a cool product. When Russian news covered the app, he tweeted about that too. When a user posted the widget used as a grocery list (16M views), he quote-tweeted it with 'I made this app, someone's now using it as a grocery list'.
What happened
~10,000 downloads from Russia the day after launch; the grocery-list quote tweet got 300K likes and ~40,000 downloads overnight; the Twitter wave added ~$2-3K MRR before any TikTok.

In their words
The Superwall Podcast · Jack Friks - He Went From Struggling to Make $1 From His App to Turning Down $1M“And that tweet, I think it like I basically quote-tweeted it like six times with updates and more context, and each time, they would get a bunch more views, a bunch more likes”
“So people were interested in two things: how I'm going to make $5,000 a month from a brand-new app in 10 weeks, and then the second thing being, this app's actually kind of cool.”
“Like, I made this app, someone's now using it as a grocery list, uh, and that got even, you know, 300,000 likes. That brought 40,000 downloads overnight.”
“That added, I think, 2,000 MRR or 3,000 MRR just from that like the Twitter tweets and the Russian news.”
