Curiosity Quench · B2C · hobby app to quit doomscrolling
Copy a viral 4-picture slideshow, add your app's images, and post it 400 times
5M+ views, up to 1,000 downloads a day, and a $15K month; faded after ~3 months

What they did
Jack found an Instagram post with ~1M views: four pictures with a funny caption listing 'most attractive hobbies'. He remade it with hobbies from his app, using pictures of the app's widgets so viewers could tell where they came from, and a new caption. He posted it ~400 times over about a year across two accounts and reposts to TikTok and Shorts. Roughly every 20th video had the app itself in one of the pictures. He posted a download CTA as a comment and pinned it early, because thousands of commenters argued about the hobby lists and in the process saw the pinned comment. He never changed the format because making something new takes more effort than reusing what works.
What happened
5M+ views total; a 2M-view post brought ~1,000 downloads in a day vs 50-60/day before; one post with an app screenshot got 1.8M views and 47K likes; revenue peaked at $15K in a month. Conversion per view was low and results slowed after ~3 months; the format is now 'milked dry'.

In their words
The Superwall Podcast · Jack Friks - He Went From Struggling to Make $1 From His App to Turning Down $1M“Like it had a million views and it was four pictures and it just had a funny caption and it just showed like most attractive hobbies, right?”
“I used pictures from my app, like the little widgets, so they can tell it's from my app. Um, and I just changed the caption.”
“But I found with this format, like every like 20 or so videos, I'd put my app in one of the pictures. And some of those would get millions of views, and that would get thousands of downloads.”
“cuz the thousands of people would comment on how bad, you know, these hobby lists are cuz they'd be- they'd be triggered or they'd be mad about it, and that would make people look at the- my comment that I posted, which is about my app.”
“Like, I was just thinking, "Oh, my gosh, you know, this hit 2 million views, and I got like 1,000 downloads in a single day."”
