Curiosity Quench's 5 tactics

Curiosity Quench · B2C · hobby app to quit doomscrolling

Revenue rose from $500-1K to $2-4K a month

Curiosity Quench originally sold confusing 'Quench credits' in a shop that users had to find themselves. Jack first added a RevenueCat paywall, which he found clunky and hard to customize, then moved to Superwall templates (adding his logo, colors and one asset) with a free-trial option. Over 3-4 months he tested headers, copy and which features to gate, looking at dollars per user.

5M+ views, up to 1,000 downloads a day, and a $15K month; faded after ~3 months

Jack found an Instagram post with ~1M views: four pictures with a funny caption listing 'most attractive hobbies'. He remade it with hobbies from his app, using pictures of the app's widgets so viewers could tell where they came from, and a new caption. He posted it ~400 times over about a year across two accounts and reposts to TikTok and Shorts. Roughly every 20th video had the app itself in one of the pictures. He posted a download CTA as a comment and pinned it early, because thousands of commenters argued about the hobby lists and in the process saw the pinned comment. He never changed the format because making something new takes more effort than reusing what works.

Daily posting dropped from ~1 hour to 10 minutes; the tool became its own business

Posting daily to two accounts and reposting to TikTok and YouTube Shorts took about an hour a day. Jack built PostBridge, a scheduler where you upload a video once and pick every channel, and batched content for a week or two at a time (or scheduled on the day).

Some blew up, but downloads were inconsistent; ~50-60 a day

Before finding the slideshow format, Jack marketed Curiosity Quench for months on YouTube and with talking-head TikToks, including ~400 days of him showing an app demo.

How he found every winning format, though the first 100-200 days showed little

Every morning Jack scrolls TikTok/Instagram on his branded page or a page in the niche (being a real user of the platform), with a 15-minute timer, and uses the save feature on anything doing well, including competitors' posts and videos from unrelated niches whose format could transfer (listicles, a 6-second background video with a caption overlay). He then sets aside 30-60 minutes to make one video from the saved ideas, or a rough 'shitty video' when he has none, trying something new every day early on. For Curiosity Quench he spent about an hour a day on scrolling plus making a video for 100-200 days before finding a winner.
