What they did
On his personal TikTok (a couple hundred thousand followers), Rafael posted 'Day X of making a DaBaby mobile game' devlogs showing new characters, and added features commenters asked for. He A/B tested hooks, words and frames in early videos to find what worked; the main driver was that the topic was trending, as long as the video wasn't boring. The game was built to look good in a TikTok video. About nine videos, 100K-1M views each.
What happened
One video hit 4M views; ~300K downloads on day one and 300-400K from the first couple of videos, before sharing and charts took over.

“And then like people would like comment ideas and they would be like, "Oh, add this, add that." And then I would add it.”
“maybe like I think, yeah, 300K downloads, 400K downloads just from like the first couple of videos”
