Scan the user's face and show a harsh bloat rating just before the paywall

Founder says it worked well; no numbers

Workedonboardingpaywall

What they did

Onboarding asks the user to take a face picture before the paywall (sunk cost), then shows a slightly exaggerated bloat rating ('you're really bloated... you have to fix it now') followed directly by the paywall. Framing is aimed at the user's insecurity; social proof also used.

What happened

'One of the things that worked well for us'; not quantified.

“one of the things that worked well for us was just like doing the face scan before the actual paywall. So, you would kind of have the sunk cost fallacy of actually, you know, taking the picture.”
Rafael Kramer
“We actually showed the rating and then it was like a little bit exaggerated. So, it was like, "Okay, you're really bloated, and then, you know, here, you have to fix it now." And then that would be like the the actual paywall.”
