Mario Manero & Alejandro Sanchez - Our App Makes $30K/Month Profit Using This Simple Strategy (copy us)
Mario Ortiz ManeroFirst app decisions, and there, we just ask people what do they prefer, and then they give us feedback. Um or like for bugs, and finding out like what's working, what's not working, it's like so so helpful.
Alejandro SanchezFor example, like this design, like okay it's like the a super fast A/B test you can do, and it just accelerates decisions. Or like like small design uh choices like this, you know, which one you like more, like 102 people voted like the right. And you know, this has proven to be super, super beneficial. And also, we get so much feedback on bugs, and um like we get so many bugs, right? And we we can really like see what many people struggle with, what many people don't like about the app. And I would always suggest that people like build a community on the side to you know sort of see how people like the app, what they want, and yeah.
Joseph ChoiThis is so interesting. I don't think I've seen anyone else build a consumer app with this active of a Discord community attached to it.
Mario Ortiz ManeroYeah, you still need a vision in your head, cuz otherwise, like there's so many suggestions that will they they will give you, and if you implement all of it, just whatever they say, check it, it's crazy. So, but it helps a lot still, cuz like I mean some like some of the the best ideas we we implemented were from here as well.
Alejandro SanchezIf you see like the the same suggestion like 20 times,
Mario Ortiz ManeroYeah.
Mario Ortiz ManeroYeah.
Alejandro Sanchezso you you can sort of uh go into debt, and you have to repay the debt of minutes you you sort of spent, right? If you're on a plane trip or whatever, we got this like a suggestion like 50 times at least, and like even this this one has so many upvotes.
Joseph ChoiNow that I think about it, like I used to work at Google Search, and I was working on consumers the consumer side, and we would literally do this, but we would spend like hundreds of thousands of dollars on it instead of just like going into Discord and asking. It's like when you when we have a feature idea, you would you know, do a UXR, you'd do user experience research, where you'd first just create very simple screens and then show people, and …
Mario Ortiz Manero… is like a mix of both using the phone less, and exercising more, right? And then, it's always been hard to know like, "Where should we focus? Like, what do people care more about?" So, we can Like, some people, for example, you can get that sort of data in the onboarding. But like, in in this Discord, we also get lots of like spe- especial like specialized insights about it, not just like the predefined answers that you put on the onboarding.
Alejandro SanchezThe logo as well, like um We We sort of like A/B tested the logo. Like this was This was supposed to be like the the the first version of the logo. And you know, we ended up doing this, so much better, all because of the the votes, and stuff, right? Otherwise, we would have picked this.
Joseph ChoiGoing back to like the business side, so you released that launch video saying that people can get a lifetime subscription for free for a week. Um, so how did you actually turn this momentum into paying subs?
