Mario Manero & Alejandro Sanchez - Our App Makes $30K/Month Profit Using This Simple Strategy (copy us)
Mario Ortiz ManeroAnd even if we didn't get a bunch of money upfront, um we did get the community, right? Like, we still had like 1k users in our Discord giving us ideas and um lots of feedback. So, that was also really helpful.
Alejandro SanchezPretty much just sent like this DM, probably like 2,000 times. It's a really like uh you know, very simple. You know, we hooked them with this. And we just explained the app real quick, "Let me know if you're interested." And the idea is, we we book a call with them, and we sort of negotiate a deal where it's for 4 videos. Let's say they their average video makes 100k views, which is a CPM of around 2 to 3, let's say 2, so that would be $200 per video. And we just multiply that by 4, because it's would be 4 videos, and we would pay them a flat retainer pretty much. No view bonus, just, in this case, $800 for 4 videos. And we'd pay them 50% upfront and 50% after that the last video. And that's pretty much what we tried. We got like around 5 to 6 influencers. I can actually show it on our main channel. Yeah, so this this is pretty much all the videos we did with influencers. For example, Chef Mac. So, initially, we we went more as well into calisthenics, because we thought, "Okay, this app appeals a lot to to calisthenics of sort of people." And yeah, we also collabed a lot with with these calisthenics influencers. I think the main problem why it failed, it's just download rate wasn't that good. Our conversion rate from the videos was actually very good, but you know, people did not really want to download the app. Like, this video got 100 uh 38,000 views, but maybe only like 200, 500 downloads, or something.
Joseph ChoiCan you show that video?
Mario Ortiz ManeroBut for us, we were still at a moment where we were like experimenting. We didn't know Like, we had some validation, but we really didn't have any organic formats that we could repeat, or like anything like this. Like, we didn't know if Chef kind of format worked, or like more like push-ups demo. And so in this experimentation, you don't want to lose a lot of money, because uh you will run out of it, which is what happened with us.
Alejandro SanchezYeah, and then we we we sort of went into the calisthenics niche, um for example, like this video. I mean, to be honest, like the video is also a bit lazy. And and the problem with calisthenics is the appeal from many of these calisthenics influencers is you know, they do these crazy movements, and when they sort of demo the app like this, it doesn't really include the crazy movement, right? If you look at this channel, like he does like the craziest skills ever, like you know, this this stuff, like you know, backflips and stuff. And then, you know, we have a video like this, and I mean, people it still it still does get views, but it's not like, you know, 200k, a million views. It doesn't go viral, and you know, that was sort of the something we had to learn the the hard way. We lost around like 2k on influencers, but then we we sort of made it all back with organic.
Joseph ChoiWhat is the format that has made you guys the most money? What can we look at the can we get a breakdown of what I guess you guys call it just Instagram TikTok organic, rather than paying influencers, you're just making your own videos?
