What they did
Old flow: onboarding screens -> forced sign-up -> more onboarding screens -> paywall. New flow: swap them so the paywall comes before registration; ask for the account after purchase ('to unlock premium we need your info'). Watch the install/first open -> paywall displayed rate, especially for simple utility apps; long onboarding suits health/fitness/education.
What happened
Install-to-paywall view went from 40% to 94% (60% had been dropping at registration); trial activations +190%, sales +52%.

“Here's what we did: we just swapped the two, okay? Went from this, registration before paywall, to paywall, then registration. Here's what happened: paywall views went up from 40 to 94%.”
“What that means is 60% of the people were dropping off at the registration page.”
“Okay, we saw 190% increase in trial activations and a 52% increase in sales.”
